Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

criminal mischief in two towns.....first offense.

Last night I was charged in two towns with criminal mischief. At last count, my friends and I were caught egging 15 cars in one town and 31 in another (including cop cars). This however, was the first time I have been arrested and the first time I got into any sort of legal trouble. I'm 18 years old. Is there any chance I'll get out of this without having to serve jail time? Thanks, Matt

I believe that there is a chance, in fact it's likely that you will not do "jail time." Nevertheless, the Court will not take very kindly to your actions, especally when the targets included police cars and the number of "hits" was so high. Therefore, there is the chance that you might receive a harsher penalty than a normal mischievous actor.

If you would like to consider having an attorney represent you in Court and the charges are in South or Central NJ, feel free to give me a call for a free consultation.

hi - the 1st thing that you should do is to hire an attorney to represent you in both municipalities. you'll make out much better than if you go in alone. hopefully, some sort of fine and community service will be the end result, rather than jail time. feel free to call me at 609 263-0089 if you have any other questions. good luck !!
