Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

My fiance cheated on me for a woman in the past. She recently started sending me e-mails claiming that she is sleeping with him again. She also has sent him text messages threatining me and she sends him e-mail at work threatning to send damaging e-mails to his boss. Does this sound like grounds to file harrassment charges or would I be able to get a restraining order as a result of these text messages and e-mails she has been sending us? (Note, my fiance and I live in the state of New Jersey, the woman harrassing us lives in the state of New York)

You could probably file criminal harrasment charges. You need to speak to the police in your town (or where it is occurring and you or your Fiance can discuss the issue of filing a criminal charge for harrasment. As far as a restraing Order, You could potentially seek to file one. I do not know if you have sufficient grounds for a permanent restraining order, I would defer that to someone else, but you certainly could pursue a claim for criminal harrasment. Depending on the frequency of the threats, maybe even terroristic threats. However you need to speak to the police in your Municipality about pursuing it. good luck
