Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

My question is: I was arrested and the charges were dropped. I received a letter of disposition and all. I now am filing for my record to be expunged and the court date for that is scheduled already (7/15/2010). Now the person I got arrested with just got pulled over and had a warrant for his arrest from the case with me and just went to court for that and is now telling me that the case is being reopened?? Can they reopen my case when it was already dismissed?? Is that possible?? I worry because of my pending court date to have my record expunged, and I've worked quite hard to have it done. Thank you for the help. I really don't know who to believe and everyone has an opinion??

It all depends on the circumstances of the dismissal of the charges.

Call me if you like.

It depends on whether the charge was dismissed for administrative reasons (dismissed on a technicality) or for substantive legal reasons (there was insufficient evidence to bring a charge against you), as well as the type of charge and the amount of time that has passed since the incident happened. If you actually get charged again please contact my office to discuss your case at that time. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
