It is extremely difficult to take back a guilty plea. When a person pleads guilty to a criminal charge in New Jersey he signs a multiple page very detailed plea form which explicitely asks if they are pleading guilty because they really are guilty. In addition to this, they have to tell the judge on the record exactly what they did, and they have to tell the judge that nobody is forcing them to plead guilty. That having been said, the person does have the right to file an appeal within 45 days of being sentenced on their criminal charge, Please contact me if you would like to discuss this in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
