Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey

Dui

How long is the statutes of limitation for a misdemenor 1st offense of DUI. Will I need an attorney for a old debt owed to the State of New Jersey. Been living in Omaha Nebraska and a protected person. Has guardian/conservator to handle all finances and best well being for protected person.

Re: Dui

A statute of limitations would set a time period during which legal actions would have to be taken in court in order to pursue an action against an individual. Once a conviction is entered and a penalty is imposed there is no limitation upon the collection of the penalty. If you are dealing with an old dwi charge, the absence of a defendant does not bring any benefit to the defendant. The charge will pend until the defendant appears in court and deals with the matter.
