Legal Question in Elder Law in New Jersey

Power of attorney

I am the caretaker of my father who is severly disabled from a stroke in April 1999. I already am able to sign his checks and deal with his bank account. He received his home rebate check in the mail but when I asked him to sign it he did a very poor job. The check will go into either his savings or checking accout, but what will I do when he can no longer sign these checks. This one was really bad.

By having a power of attorney what would I be able to do?

a power of atty. can be drafted to fit your dad's needs as fas as banking, medical decisions, finances, and day-to-day chores are concerned. it's probably a good idea to have one done. feel free to call me at 609 263-0089 if you have any other questions. we do them all of the time. good luck !
