Legal Question in Medical Leave in New Jersey

leave

Can I take a medical leave of abscense due to emotional stress? I am currently taking care of my dying grandmother and my personal leave is up. I am so emotionally exhausted and am her only care provider. What can I do? My company has stated if I do not come back by Monday (full-time) that my job will be terminated.

Re: leave

Yes, you are entitled to up to 12 weeks of leave to care for your mother if your company meets certain size requirements and you have been employed for a sufficient amount of time. Generally, that is 50 employees in size and a full year's employment, but there are some exceptions and potential pitfalls. You might consult a lawyer if your company does not honor your request.
