Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Breach of Contract on Payment

Dear Attorney,

I have been working for a company which is having a registered office in California.Per original contract, they are supposed to pay for the work I have done within 15 days of receiving payments from the client. They made part payments so far even though they got full payment from the client. The pending payment is for the period Oct'2002 to January 2003.Even after repeated requests,I have been promised that the payments will be made but they failed to make payments. No reason has been given. The company is doing well and making payments to other contractors. Their whole operation is being done from India and california office is just a front office. Per original contract, all disputes should be settled in a court of law in the state of New Jersey, even though the company is in California! I don't understand why. I live in Colorado. Now I would like to persue this case, but can't really afford hire a an attorney as the amount involved is $9500. At the same time,I can't let this amount go as this a huge amount for me.

Please Advice. I appreciate your help in this regards.

Thanking you.
