Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

can co-signer sue?

I cosigned on 2 n.j. class loans for a non family member. he didn't pay and I was left paying the tab. This happened in July of 2003. what are my chances of getting a judgement awarded for the amount of the loans against him. I basically need to find out if I can sue also.

Re: can co-signer sue?

He owed, you paid. You have a claim, the question is, can you ever collect? If you can not now, you may be able to in the future (with interest), so, file suit for the full cost to you, including filing fees, atty fees, other fees and costs, and "and for such further relief as the Court may deem proper and just." Get a judgment, docket it in Trenton, and hope he hits the lottery.
