Legal Question in Health Care Law in New Jersey

I received a bill from my Dentist stating that my Insurance is no longer in effect and I owe money for my checkup and cleaning. When I called the HR dept. at my job they informed me that every employee was cancelled from Dental Insurance as of January 1,2010. Not one employee has been notified, verbally or in written form. If I hadn't questioned it my fellow staff members would have been in the same boat I'm in and with a bill that I did not expect to pay! Do I have any legal right to demand compensation for the dental bill from my employer?
