Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey

hi

simple marriage case, had my interview in october 2007, stamp in my passport, green card # in my passport, the problem is that i did not receive my actual green card, my question is

is this normal that you wait 7 months to receive your green card? from the time you have your interview how long after should a green card arrive at your house? i have been waiting for more then 7 months now, is this normal?

Waiting for 7 months is not normal. First read carefully what stamp did you get in your passport, then check your case status on line, call 800#, make an appointment in your local office. Consider whether you changed your address at any time during an adjustment process. There is a chance that your local office will ask you to finger print again and make a photo etc.

Was the stamp you received an I-551 stamp or just a notice written by the officer stating that you attended the interview?

It should not take that long to recieve your green card in the mail. Check the case status online at USCIS's website to see if the card has been processed and mailed. If it hasn't been, then you may want to speak with the local office where you had your interview to see why it hasn't been processed yet (you can make an Infopass appointment to do this).
