Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Goodmorning!!!! I live in Newark New jersey and i am a section 8 tenant the old landlord lost the house and the new landlord just move in in June of this year she keep knocking on my door asking me for a second security deposit and that rent went up, section 8 is paying here 1118, and she said the rent is 1400, again i told her to talk to my section 8 worker but she's being real nasty saying my rent is 1400 and you need to sign this lease can she do that?

If you have a lease now, you are entitled to the benefit of that lease until the end of the term. After that, the landlord must offer you a new lease that can contain a rent increase that is reasonable.
