Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

My father fell in his church parking lot on 11/16/09, broke his leg up near his hip. He was not operated on until the next day (he was 86) and then remained in the hospital for approx. 35 days. He later was sent to therapy for about 3 wks. and then sent home. To make a long story short he passed away on 1/8/09. I'm not sure how he fell, I was not with him. I was wondering if the church could be held liable for this. I do know that the police were called along with an ambulance. He could only tell me that he was getting into his car, the wind was blowing and his hat blew off. He then turned to go get the hat and thats when he broke his leg. Not sure whether it was the turning he did or if they had a pot hole in the lot.

You should speak to an attorney right away. Your father might have a claim against whomever maintained the church parking lot, as well as the church. There may be also a claim against the medical provider if they did not act within the applicable standard of care.

Give our offices a call to discuss your family's options. 267.639.3105.
