Thank you for your inquiry. Claims may be brought against the Department of Corrections for assaults which were preventable, and in which an inmate sustained injuries. However, there are strict time limitations imposed by statute with which one must comply in order to make such claims in a timely manner; or the claim may be barred by those Notice of Claim and Statute of Limitations requirements.
