Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Got a ticket in NJ - "Failure to observe Traffic Sign".

Instead of a "Road Closed" sign at the beginning of the road/intersection, a sign was posted well beyond the intersection that Bridge closed ahead. and then few yards after Road closed - Local Traffic only. There were no detour; No way to take a u-turn as there were an island (double-double yellow line with stripes inbetween, making it assumed road divider/barrier). Road is small to take a safe and legal U-turn.

To avoid it, I crossed the sign to make a safe and legal U-turn in a gas station (first sign in the road indicating its open during construction). Officer pulled over a vehicle. Then officer pulled over me and other car as well. Many vehicle made u-turn near the cop vehicle. Cop even had few other vehicle to pull over. Not sure if those people got ticket too.

What are my chances if I take the case for trial. I have pictures of misleading road sign, issues in avoiding crossing the sign, safety and tried to avoid making illegal or safe u-turn.

Do I need to go for trial or talk to prosecutor to reduce/amend the charge. Heard NJ offers plea bargain with zero points but heavy fine and surcharge totalling around $400.

What if the judge still finds me guilty after the trial. Does it make my case even worst or just pay the current fine with court charges. First ticket; clean driving record. Or should I just pay the fine and take driving course to knock off 2 pts.

I would see if you can get no points. I do not advice a trial. 1000 people xan commit a crime, it doesn't make it ok. You may want to hire a lawyer.
