Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Unregistered vehicle, Warrant issue, what to do?

I was issued a ticket by forest rangers for an unregistered vehicle (dirt bike). I was not aware you needed to register an off-road bike.

I did not have the money to pay the ticket when I got it in the mail. Planned on paying it whenever I caught up on bills and had a few bucks to spare. Wasn't worth the lost time and money to waste a day in court and the gas money to drive down there.

Got a warrant notice today. Not sure what I should do. I'll pay them the $74 fine for the ticket + $10 late fee, since I finally got paid after paying my bills up to date and have some money left over. I will not pay them the $174 bail they are asking, nor any additional fees.

I'm wondering if I should sign the titles to my vehicles over to a friend, empty my bank accounts, and get out of the state until Monday when business opens, then go to the court house and let them take their money out of me in jail time.

If they really want to hurt me over such minor issues then so be it, it'll cost them money to jail me and pay my dues at the same time. Just don't want them to take my property or any more than $74 of my money.

First a word about attitude and personal responsibility:

"Wasn't worth the lost time and money to waste a day in court and the gas money to drive down there.": So what's your solution? Get rid of your vehicle, empty your bank accounts and avoid the jurisdiction or, alternatively, go to jail. What is wrong with you? All of that over $174?

You had a very minor problem that is still only a relatively minor problem. Just go to Court, pay what needs to be paid and go on with your life. And, change your attitude. It's time to grow up and become responsible.

You have handled this matter all wrong. You should have called the court and asked for a postponement of your case. Now you should call the court and explain your mistake and ask if the warrant can be withdrawn if you come and pay the fine.

You might benefit more from seeking help from a site devoted to helping those with thought disorders.

What are you thinking? Transfer your property? Go out of state? To avoid $174.00? When you are both guilty of the offense and contempt of court to boot? For god's sake pay the money and move on.

I agree with the other attorneys. Essentially, you have serious problems and nothing we tell you will help you. The fact that you have money for a dirt bike and no money for a small ticket is amazing and shows that you are on the wrong path in life.
