Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

My ex-husbend past away last year and he did not have a will He has two family home which we are renting because there is the mortgage to pay I have two children 22 year old son and 18 year old daugther .... what should we do..... we have no money to pay for a lawyer can you give me some advice. Thank you

You should retain a lawyer to assist you, as someone has to be appointed by the Surrogate to handle the estate, pay bills and arrange for final tax returns and ultimate distribution of the estate assets. Your children can probably be appointed to do this, but having a competent attorney will make it ewasier, be sure everything required is done and will be worth his fees, which are payable from the estate. Legal Services may not be available as there are assets of value in the estate. Contact me directly if you need more information.
