Since you do not indicate if the estate may be subject to federal estate or state inheritance taxes, my answer will be general. Depending upon the potential for taxes and the necessity of obtaining waivers to release the assets from possible tax liabilities, the normal period can run from several months to a year or more. If no waivers are needed from the state, the shorter time period should apply.
