id to police officer

do I have to give my name, ssn, birthdate, and phone number to a police officer when asked? this was in conjunction with a neighborhood canvas re: stolen goods.

No. New Mexico law makes it a crime to conceal one's identity from a law enforcement officer who is on official business and is entitled to know, but it does not specify that you must provide the things itemized in your post. In New Mexico one usually identifies oneself through means of a driving license or a state-issued ID, both of which are available through the Motor Vehicle Department.
