Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

opposing legal change of name of minor

My son, from my previous marraige, who does not live with me, who lives in New Mexico, has filed to have his last name legally changed to my married name. This has been filed in New Mexico. My husband, who never adopted my son, and I , who both live in Texas are both strongly opposed to this change. Is there anything we can do to oppose this change? What forms to we need to file?

In Texas, you would need to file an Answer with the court, and then you would need to appear at the hearing and testify as to your objections.
