Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

I have paid my child support principle balance owed, but the State of New Mexico, is charging me $23, 681.35 in interest. Is there any way to reduce this amount?????

If NM has been fully reimbursed for all support it provided to your child/children, then you may be able to negotiate a lower cash pay-off of interest and penalties. The only thing which will work is a lump-sum payment. I would start at 1/3, but be prepare to go to 40% and then to 50% if necessary. Negotiation is a fine art form, so you may want to consult a domestic relations attorney to assist you.
