Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Mexico

Death in Family

My grandson is four years old. Is mother was killed in a car accident( one vehicle) and killed instantly. Although she has not been an active participant in his life she was his mother. His Dad lives with him at our home. I know there are probably several issues we have to address ie: letting the local courts know so the papers can be adjusted. She was killed in Texas. I found out how I obtain the death certificate now my question is can I file a social security claim on my grandson's behalf? Is there anything else we need to do? I don't believe she had any life insurance etc.?

Thanks

Re: Death in Family

You should use an attorney to help. From your question, it appears that you live in the same zip code as my office, which is at Louisiana and Candelaria. Give me a call (at no charge) and we can discuss further.
