Legal Question in Disability Law in New York

Discrimination???

I was recently fired from my job

because I have an eating disorder. I

was wondering, can a person get

fired from a job if they have an

eating disorder? Would that be

considered as discrimination or

something? Also me having an eating

disorder would not be a health

insurance concern for them, because

I did not get health insurance from

them. Any information would be very

helpful.

Re: Discrimination???

On the surface you may have suffered discrimination outlawed by the ADA. I must, however, caution you that even if there was discrimination it may not be illegal if your employer is unable able to make a reasonable accommodation -one that does not cause a loss of business gains. In your case, it is best that you discuss the facts of your case with an attorney or your local caseworker with the N.Y.S. Div. of Human Rights or the EEOC.
