Legal Question in Disability Law in New York

Loan turned down due to collecting disability

My husband and I applied to refinance our house, I told them all the info they needed to process it incl. that I was currently collecting SS Disability. We got approved pending an appraisal. Appraisal came in noting a problem with our basement, they wanted an Engineer's Report, did that, came back no structrual problems, then they wanted my medical notes from the doctor stating I am disable, did that too. Now they are saying they are going to deny our loan unless the doctor says that I will collect disability for the next 3 yrs. How can he predict the future? I asked them if I was working would they want something stating I will be employed for the next 3 yrs, they said no it wouldn't be needed. Is this discrimination based on my disability and there rules? Thank you.

Re: Loan turned down due to collecting disability

Yes. It is discriminatory. There are a number of ways to describe what is wrong the bank's behavior.

The question is, of course, what shall you do about it?
