Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

My bankruptcy was filed in Jan 1995 the judge signed it 1996 when is this legall

I had a bankruptcy back in 1995, that is when I filed, it appears that the judge signed it Jan 1996, when is this legally eligible to be removed from my credit report? I want to buy a house and this is seriously hurting my chances for a good credit rating, such as good interest rate. This is the state of New York. What can I do to help?

Thank you for all your help.

It should come off your credit report, 10 years from the date of filing.

Once the 10 year mark has passed, you should obtain copies of your credit report from the 3 major credit reporting agencies (Experian, Equifax, Trans Union). If the Bankruptcy still shows up, you should follow the procedures for requesting that outdated information be removed.

Good Luck.
