Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

I filed for bakruptcy in 2008 and I was granted a discharge of all my debts. I included my home in the bankruptcy, as I could not afford it. The bank that originally held the mortgage went out of business and another bank to over the mortgage. The home is in the foreclosure process and has been for atleast 1.5 to 2 years. How long does the foreclosure process take? Or how long can a bank hold a home in foreclosure? I know that the house went up for auction back in Aug 09, but the property is still showing me as the owner, so I assume that the house was never bid on. Will the bank keep trying to auction off the house until someone bids on it??
