Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Business not honoring a credit

I received a Christmas gift from an online store. I returned the gift and they issued me a credit. Now that I want to purchase something with that credit, they are saying their computers crashed and have no record of it. And the manager is avoiding my calls and emails. Do I have any recourse? The credit is for $169. The company is based in Brooklyn, NY, but I live in Culver City, CA.

Re: Business not honoring a credit

If you have proof of the credit, and can demonstrate that the store failed to honor the credit, you would be able to commence a small claims action in New York for the money.

Of course, you may contact the better business bureau and file a complaint.

Mike.
