Legal Question in Business Law in New York

I have an online store. I'm registered as a sole proprietor and have a sales tax id in that name. I also have a DBA. I am closing my online store to start a photography business instead. Can I use the same tax id and sole proprietor info for the photography business and just change my DBA? Or do I have to get a new tax id? Do I discontinue my DBA and file for a new one, or just amend my old one?

Thank you!

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. You need to check with various agencies. The IRS and state for whether your tax id can be changed to the new business (likely, they will say no). And wherever you are registered as a sole proprietor - same question and probably same answer. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
