Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Purchase cancellation

Now, this is really stupid on my part

I was contacted by a telemarketing company based in NY under the pretext of registering me for a directory honoring accomplished professionals. I never submit to these things, but I got tricked

I agreed to the price and gave them my credit card number. About an hour later, I called them to ask them to cancel my membership (left messages and sent an email). A day later I was contacted by my representative - she said shes not authorized to cancel my membership, and a member of the finance department will call me. He called me a few days later and told me he cant cancel my purchase it was final, I replied that Ill contest the charge. He responded that they have me on tape agreeing to the purchase. Then, he suggested a price decrease and faxed me the new price requiring my signature.

If I decline to sign the fax, can they still charge me the higher price? What about the three-day cooling off period rule set by the FTC? Does email count? My account hasnt been charged yet

Thank you!

Re: Purchase cancellation

Contact the credit card company and dispute the debt. Sign nothing or it will be a contract issue that the credit card company will be unable to intercede in.

You arguably waived the 3-days by waiting more than 3-day to in writing dispute this.
