Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

banned from store

I shop at a local williams sonoma store for many years, about 5-7 years, and buy quite a bit, the last time I was in and was about to make a purchase the manager approaced me and said since I buy so much from the store they think I might be reselling it so I am no longer allowed to buy anything at the store, full price or sale merchandise, is this legal, what can I do about this?

Re: banned from store

I do not believe you have a viable cause of action. So long as the store is not discriminating against you on the basis of your race, religion or some other status, they can deny a sale to you or anyone and stores have legally denied sales to customers who are suspected of being resellers.
