Civil case verses a criminal case out come

Can a guilty plea agreement in a criminal case affect the out come in a civil suit with the same person?

Yes, a guilty plea agreement can influence the outcome of a civil case because, among other things, you are admitting to certain actions that may form elements of the plaintiff's civil case.

For instance, if it was an assault case, and the criminal defendant plead guilty to the assault. The plaintiff in the civil matter would use that admission of guilt and facts surrounding the plea to prove his case. As a result, more likely than not, liability would be proven. However, damages would still be an issue.
