deflamation of charicter and slander

how do i know if i have a solid case to get someone to rep. me?

what does the law say that these are? Does someone I have never even met before speaking lies about my criminal background in court to better them in a out come count as these?

No. Testifying in court is an absolutely privileged form of speech

as is opinion and satire.

It cannot be the basis for a defamation action.
