good ole boys
I was assaulted by someone affiliated with the local police. When I made a statement to the police they didn't follow up and won't return calls. Who do I turn to if the local police don't listen?

This depends on exactly what you want the person who listens to do. If the "affiliated" individual, was a member of State Law enforcement, acting in that capacity at the time you were assaulted, you may have an action under 42 USC 1983, if your rights were violated.
If you are trying to report this to the police, because you want something done, you may have to go above the local precinct level, and contact One Police Plaza, internal affairs, or citizen complaints.

You turn to a lawyer who is capable of handling a claim for deprivation of civil rights by a person acting under color of law. One of the things that I highly advice you to do as a prerequisite to filing suit is to file a complaint with your city council and the State Attorney General's office. The police are not immune for being hauled into court like any other tortfeasor.
