Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

posting of signs

i am a business owner & i am not allowed to post signs on public property, ie telephone poles & power poles, grassy areas on public roads. i would like to know if politicians & public officials who are advertising for their election are leagally allowed to post these signs & also if it is illegal for me to post my sign on theirs.

It depends where they post them whether it's legal or not. Generally they post them on property with consent of the property owner, or if the property owner volunteers to post. You can post signs on some private property with the consent of the property owner but you cannot post on someone else's sign without their consent.
