Legal Question in Technology Law in New York

computer fraud

can an innocent person go to federal jail for a crime they did not commit on their own computer?

I let a so called friend use my computer, they used stolen credit cards, and bank accounts to pay bills, buy stolen products.

I was accused of this crime and arrested on June 8,2006 then again on June 18,2007 for the same crime because of this person.

I was going to court for a year for this crime I did not commit, the police have not found the person who've done this to me,also, the prosecutor wants me to plead guilty to Criminal Identity Theft and I did not have anything to do with this mess.

Re: computer fraud

Yes innocent people can go to jail. The federal can be very tough. The fact that you allowed this person to do this twice makes your story less credible; so you need to get an attorney asap; the prosecutor may be being realistic, but they are not on your side in this.
