Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

answer a summons

Does anyone know if there is a preset form for an Answer to a summons. Some kind of forum I can follow so that I know I am doing it right. It is a Consumer Credit Transaction, Summons & Complaint.

I have looked on the internet and obviously I am not typing something in right, because I am not finding a free form to follow. I have been told everything is available on the net.

I am not sure that I have a snowballs chance at my case, but I don't want it thrown out because I did something wrong and I can't afford legal counsel right now, and free legal in our area is booked for months.

I can't take time off from work because I don't get paid so I am stuck doing this myself.

PLEASE HELP! I have been looking for a week, so I am running out of time.

Re: answer a summons

Go to the clerk where the summons was issued. Tell them that you need a form (or instructions) to answer the complaint. They should be able to either provide the form or instructions to help you appear in the action.

Mike.
