Charged Off Credit Card Now Being Sued

I had a credit card opened in 2001 that was charged off i was living in NY At the time and have since moved to Hawaii I was served a summons yesterday for a court appearance for the 901 dollar charge off from an acquisition company both HI and NY has a 6 year statute is that from the orignal date of charge off or from when the collection company acuired the account. I do not want to be sued over a small debt from 7 years ago

The statute of limitation is 6 years from the breach (when the original debt is due).
