Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

hold on bank account

lawyers for a credit card company placed a hold on all my bank accounts for 3,055.68. They say I owe 1,465.34 but I was never served directly to myself where I live. The court order was served to my father(step) at his home where I last lived when I was 18 on 5-30-2006. I am now 25. The lawyers representing the company are telling me I have to pay 30% of the owed amount and start a payment plan before the restraint can be lifted. Is this true?

Yes, if they got a judgment they can do that.

Re: hold on bank account

You can go to the court that issued the judgment and try to get it lifted...if you do work out a plan, be certain that it is in writing.

Good Luck
