Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Police Questioning

Hello, my friend was recently questioned by the police in regards to a friend he was staying with illegal activity. They threatened to keep him overnight if he sought legal counsel and as a result, he spoke with them without an attorney and incriminated himself. Are what the police did illegal and if so, what can be done about it concerning my friend's self-incrimination?

Re: Police Questioning

This is much too complicated to discuss via the internet. Your friend needs to retain an attorney ASAP. The statements as well as any evidence obtained during questioning if an attorney was requested and that request was refused may be suppressed [not admissible]at trial. But only the specific facts can determine that. I can be reached for a phone consultation @7188340087.

Re: Police Questioning

Your friend should retain an attorney right away. If a statement is found to be unlawfully obtained then it can be suppressed, along with additional evidence that the police got as a result of that statement.
