Legal Question in DUI Law in New York

VA license NY 2nd DWI

In 2006 I received a DWI that was reduced to a violation. I was arrested for a second time and the case is still in process. The first time my license was not affected in VA. Was this just a slip through the cracks or does NY not have reciprocity with VA.

Re: VA license NY 2nd DWI

there is no inherent reciprocity... it is wholly up to the DMV's discretion... usually they do reciprocally suspend the license, sometimes they do not... you were lucky.

Your VA license should have been affected by your plea. The second DWI may have even greater consequences, you should retain an experienced DWI attorney. Please visit my web-site nydrunkdrivingdefense.com and contact my office @7188340087 if you wish.
