Mom's long term care

Mom Needs Help at home. A live in health aid. she has lung and brain cancer but in remission as of today. We want medicaid to pay as cost is very expensive. The only problem is she has and IRA in her name ITF her three children. Mom has been living with my brother for the past ten years. In the last two years my brother and I have taken care of her. Recently she had two brain operation and is currently in Rehab. In 20 days she will be release to us and will live with my brother again.

Can we get the help with out turning over the IRA to Medicaid

Re: Mom's long term care

You are going to have to list the IRA as an asset on the Medicaid application paperwork and spend it down for mom's care. Sorry.

Good luck.
