Legal Question in Family Law in New York

child support, college education

my husband has paid child support since his divorce in 1999 for his children now ages 26, 23 and 20. it will be ending in Septmeber of this year when his youngest child turns 21. He has never had the amount adjusted as each older child was emancipated and since the beginning he has paid the state of New York and the monies was withdrawn from his paycheck, upon the youngest turning 21, the residence of the ex-wife, the home they both own was to be sold and divided in half or the ex could buy him out. Yesterday we receive in the mail an order to appear in court for being in arears for college expenses totaling more than $80,000.00. My husband was never asked to contribute nor was he notified. The children did take out student loans to help pay for college and the mother co-sgned some of the loans but again never asked for my husband to contribute. He has followed his child support order to the penny and has never denied his children when asked for monies to help buy a car or help in any way. We live in Florida and this order to appear in court in New York will be affecting us financially. The divorce stipulation said that my husband shall contribute to thier college education, if he could financially.
