Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Financial Affidavit

I have been given 20 days to comply with a financial affidavit. Is this necessary and if I don't get it there in time, what happens. I don't know if I need a lawyer to do this or is it necessary? I do not want this divorce.

Re: Financial Affidavit

If it is court ordered you must comply. If it is not court ordered you do not need to comply but have the option of making a motion to quash it or limit it, or you may be subject to a motion from the other side seeking the court to compel you to answer the affidavit.

It may be helpful to you to retain an attorney, especially if you want to fight the divorce action.
