Legal Question in Family Law in New York

ex husband fired for sexual harrasment

my ex got fired for sexual harrassment. . He no longer is working - not paying child support and is in arrears for $8000. He wants to not work - watch our son all day (to save on daycare money) and not pay me, while i have to work all day and get no time with my child. Can I petition the courts to have his employment record realeased. He lost his job becuase of misconduct and i don't think my life should be penalized because of it.

Thank you

Re: ex husband fired for sexual harrasment

I'm assuming there is an order of support. If so, it remains in effect until it is changed by another court order. If your ex lost his job through no fault of his own, and has tried his best to find a new job, the court may reduce his support if he files a petition. If however, he lost his job through his own actions, and has not made any reasonable efforts to find new work, the court will most likely deny any request to lower the support.
