Legal Question in Family Law in New York

jail for not paying child support

If X fails to pay and owes a lot in arrears(5000 plus) what are the sanctions brought up against him and how does it work? I know he can even be jailed. If so, is there a bail set to get him out. How much is a bail and am I entitled to this money(part of bail) as a Child Support receiver for our son?

Re: jail for not paying child support

Suggest you file an enforcement petition in the Family Court.

His driver's licence can be suspended and tax refunds seized, etc.

If you wish to discuss this with me privately, please call to schedule a confidential consultation.

I practice in NYC and Long Island.
