lifestyle choices :: custody

If this reply seems "vague", please know that it is so, in part, because your question is vague by virtue of being so broad.

Reduced to the most "in general" proposition, the effect of lifestyle / moral issues on custody determinations is not what it once was. Put otherwise, nowadays the effect of religious / sexual orientation issues is reduced to "next to nil" - likewise with lifestyle / moral issues ... HOWEVER, the trigger is whether a showing can be made that the "issue" places the well-being of the child at risk. Thus, a home wherein poisonous snakes were allowed to roam freely {whether as a religious observance or 'lifestyle choice'} would likely be determined to be an environment wherein a child would be "at risk".
