Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I live in NY. My ex-wife took me to court for past due medical co-pays. I showed up to my first appearance. The second one I showed up to but it was re-scheduled. I missed the re-scheduled court date. MY ex only won part of the co-pay she took me to court for, But won 2500.00 in lawyers fees due to default of me not being there. A money judgement was issued against me. Child support enforcement added the 2500.00 as child support arrears. Can they do that. I have never been in arrears on my regular child support payments, they are automatically taken out of my paycheck.

Yes, they can do that...

You may be able to file a motion to vacate the default order however and should likely contact an attorney to discuss this possibility.
