Legal Question in Family Law in New York

my husband and i are legally separated for 1 year now, he was paying me support because i dont make enough money to support myself. now that its been 1 year, he says that he doesnt have to support me any longer, he has a lawyer but i can afford one. he wants to go for the divorce, does this mean he doesnt have to pay me anymore, or does he still have to. if he doesnt go for the divorce right away, does he have to renew the agreement. please i need answers. hes helping me pay my rent, he gives me $300, a month right now and i still need that to survive. what can i do. there are no children involved in this marraige im married 9 years to this guy.

Hi:

This really depends on what the circumstances of your income, his income, assets, liabilities,etc.

You really need to speak with friends to possibly help you pay for an attorney otherwise u may really get stuck.

Since you have been living separate and apart for a year either party can move for a divorce, however, if your case is presented properly you may still be entitled to support.
