moving out at 17

I can take care of myself (support) i have a job adn im going and would continue to go to school. I want to move out at 17 in New York can i do that with out getting emancipated? I really need some help with this one. please email asap

You cannot legally move out of your parents home without their permission unless you become emancipated. If you leave you can be found to be a runaway. You can then be put back in the home or sent to a juvi detention center.

Maybe there is another adult you can speak with who can intercede with your folks. Try speaking to a religious leader or a school official.
