NYS Maintenance Payments

Is there any consideration in NYS matrimonial Law to provide relief for the elimination of maintence payments once a former spouse becomes engaged to remarry or do you have to wait until they are remarried??

If they are holding themselves out as married, maintenance payments generally terminate. You have to look at the document that obligates you to pay support, however. If you are paying maintenance as part of a Separation and Settlement Agreement, for example, the termination events could be different than what general New York law provides.
